Straight answers.
What recording lengths do you handle?
Free tier: up to 60 minutes per file, or paste a transcript of any length. Pro: up to 4 hours per file. Anything longer is automatically chunked by speaker-turn boundaries and synthesized into a single brief.
How accurate is the transcription?
Whisper transcribes clean civic audio at ~95% word accuracy; muffled council chambers drop to ~85%. Every section of the brief carries a HIGH/MEDIUM/LOW confidence band, and low-confidence spans are flagged for human review against the official minutes. We do not pretend to be perfect — we make uncertainty visible.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes. Billed monthly, no annual commitment. Cancel inside the Stripe portal that opens from your account menu — access continues to the end of the current billing period.
Why $39 when Otter is $17?
Otter transcribes — you still own 2-3 hours of restructuring per meeting. Quorum Brief produces a publish-ready newsletter brief: agenda flow, vote tallies, quote pulls with timestamps, public comment themes, procedural notes, a follow-up reporting list, and an AP-style headline. One council brief saves ~4 hours of writer time. At freelance-stringer rates ($20-35/hr), Pro pays for itself with a single meeting.
Do you share my recordings or train on them?
No. Recordings are sent only to the transcription API and discarded after the brief is produced. Transcripts are stored solely so paid users can search their own archive. We do not sell or share your data, and we do not use it for model training.
Hour-saved estimates come from adjacent industry benchmarks (stringer rates, generic transcription tool reviews) and a small hand-survey of civic-newsletter writers — not aggregated platform telemetry. We have no shipped customers yet, so there are no fabricated testimonials, subscriber-count badges, or “as seen in” logos on this site until real ones exist. Transcription accuracy depends on recording quality; every brief carries a confidence band and a “human review” flag on uncertain spans.
